It’s ready. Thanks Nvidia, ”The GTX 1060 is also fully VR-ready, meaning you can expect a smooth experience using it with the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. The card is also a lot more energy efficient for VR gaming, consuming just 120 watts of power during use. Perhaps the biggest news is the price point of the GTX 1060, which is set at US$249 – less than half the $549 launch price of the performance-comparable GTX 980.” Still a lot of cash to drop but the prices are also dropping. It’ll be an interesting race to mainstream.
Is there a new Gear VR on the horizion? Seems like something to watch for “The timing on this is very interesting, though. With the existing headset less than a year old and with a new Samsung smartphone (a new Note) on the horizon, which may embrace a new USB Type-C connector, the compatibility of the existing Gear VR with Samsung’s entire line might be timing out.”
